“Turkey's Financial Sector meets Data Sharing”
In 1993, The Banking Law of Turkey was amended to make Data Sharing possible directly
between two financial institutions or through a company that is owned by at least 10 financial institutions. This was the first stage of the foundation of KKB. In 1995, 11 major banks of
Turkey established KKB. A second amendment in The Banking Law in December 1999 allowed other organisations which are approved by The Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency to share the
data with financial institutions. This amendment made it possible to have larger member portfolio for KKB and therefore KKB had chance to enlarge its member portfolio.
KKB is a private company, independent of the contributing institutions, which manages information on behalf of its members to allow them to benefit from the potential of the information.
